Hazeldenes chickens are raised on RSPCA Approved farms which are assessed by an RSPCA Assessor 2-4 times a year. Our chickens enjoy space to move, good lighting and can perch, dust-bathe and forage to their heart’s content – which ultimately leads to better health and welfare.

We also have free range farms which are accredited by FREPA (The Free Range Egg & Poultry Association) as well as RSPCA Approved. This means that, once fully feathered, during daylight hours the chickens have access to outdoor free range areas. You can view details about the standards on the FREPA website.

No. We can assure you that our chickens are raised completely free from added hormones and steroids. In fact, no chickens in Australia are given growth promoting hormones as it is illegal.

Absolutely not. We raise our chickens on Australian RSPCA Approved farms which are assessed by an RSPCA Assessor 2-4 times a year. Our chickens enjoy space to move, good lighting and can perch, dust-bathe and forage to their heart’s content – which ultimately leads to better health and welfare. Information on the RSPCA standard is available here. 

Many of our farms are free range and are accredited by FREPA (The Free Range Egg & Poultry Association) who conduct regular audits to ensure standards are being maintained. 

On our free range farms, once fully feathered, the chickens have access to outdoor range areas with trees and shade during daylight hours. At night and during extreme weather (hot or cold), they are housed in barns to keep them warm, comfortable and safe from predators.

Hazeldenes free range chickens are kept protected within a well-fenced range areas adjacent to their barns and our farmers are responsible for their safety and well-being when the chickens are outside. At night, Hazeldenes free range chickens are housed inside the barns to keep them warm and safe from predators.

No. Our fresh chicken products have nothing added whatsoever.

Only our flavoured, marinated or stuffed chicken products have any additives. Please refer to our packaging for details on each product.

Our fresh chicken products, that are not flavoured, marinated or stuffed chicken, contain no gluten or any other allergens.

Yes, Hazeldenes chicken is processed through a Halal certified facility. Please refer to Australian Federation of Islamic Councils.

No we don’tHazeldenes is a major supplier to Coles, Woolworths, IGA, Foodworks, Harris Farms, Tasman Meats and many other wholesale customers.

Hazeldenes chicken is stocked in a range of supermarkets and specialty food retailers across VIC, NSW, QLD, ACT, SA & NT.  Sometimes it’s difficult to know if you are buying Hazeldene’s chicken as a lot of our chicken is sold under supermarket brands.
