Our Accreditations & Certifications
We work to global food safety standards and are accredited for HACCP, ISO 9001 and SQF code – all quality management food safety systems. We focus on achieving full compliance and regularly assist the numerous auditors that frequent our premises to validate our hard work.
We see audits as an opportunity to continually improve and maintain high standards throughout our operations. We love to pass our audits with flying colours, validating our strong commitment to providing Australians with premium quality Australia chicken.
HACCP
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is a food safety system that identifies risks around food safety and quality and then ensures control measures are put in place to control those risks. All Hazeldene’s products are tested under the HACCP Food Safety System and we are audited every 6 months, with a recertification process every three years.
ISO 9001: 2015
We are accredited to ISO 9001: 2015 which was developed and published by the International Organisation for Standardisation and audited ever 12 months. The standard provides guidance and tools for companies and organisations who want to ensure that their products and services consistently meet customers’ requirements and that quality is consistently improved. ISO 9001: 2015 sets out the requirements of a quality management system.
SQF Code
The SQF Code meets the needs of all suppliers in the food industry through an internationally recognized certification system, with an emphasis on the systematic application of HACCP for control of food quality hazards as well as food safety. The implementation of an SQF management system addresses a buyer’s food safety and quality requirements and provides the solution for businesses supplying local and global food markets. We hold accreditation to Level 3 which is a comprehensive implementation of food safety and quality management systems development. This means we are audited and recertified every six months.
RSPCA Approved
In 2011 Hazeldene’s partnered with Coles to introduce an RSPCA Approved chicken range. We’ve always had a strong commitment to animal welfare, but the RSPCA Approved Standard for Meat Chickens gave us robust parameters for our farming operations. We were the first in Victoria, and the second nationally, to be assessed and certified to the RSPCA Approved Standard for Meat Chickens and in the beginning were the only supplier of RSPCA Approved chicken under Coles own brand.
RSPCA Approved requirements include specific perching, lighting, stocking densities and record keeping. There are also detailed requirements for meat chickens reared outdoors such as shelter and secure fencing. Meat chickens reared indoors live in enriched barns and can perch, dust bathe, scratch and play with interesting objects. To maintain certification, every farm is assessed two to four times per year by specially trained RSPCA Assessors.
PrimeSafe
PrimeSafe is a Statutory Authority operating under the Meat Industry Act 1993 and Seafood Safety Act 2003 to regulate the safety of meat, poultry and seafood across Victoria. PrimeSafe audits our whole site every six months with a focus on our distribution fleet. This ensures our trucks are kept in excellent condition for delivering our products to customers.
Our site needs to meet the ISO and HACCP standards as well as various Australian Standards including the Australian Standard for Hygienic Production of Poultry Meat for Human Consumption (AS 4465).
Retailers
To ensure we meet Coles’ quality requirements, we are audited every 12 months to the Coles Supplier Requirements.
ALDI also audit us every 12 months, to the ALDI Audit Addendum.
Woolworths implements the WSEP (Woolworths Supplier Excellence Program) and audits us every six months to ensure we meet their requirements.
